Case study
SPManpower
Workforce Management Platform · Canada · Maintained since 2023
SPManpower runs a staffing operation across multiple locations and departments in Canada. Before UmbrStack, scheduling, attendance tracking, and staffing requests were handled through disconnected, manual processes that couldn't keep pace with the business.
Section 01
The challenge
Coordinating shifts across multiple sites and departments, tracking attendance accurately, and filling last-minute staffing gaps all needed to run through one reliable system — not spreadsheets and phone calls.
Section 02
What we built
- A full scheduling system with calendar and weekly grid views, reusable shift presets, and manual shift recording
- On-site attendance tracking with biometric fingerprint punching, plus a manual override with a full edit log
- A staffing request system with two lanes — planned weekly needs and ad-hoc on-call requests — so departments can flag and fill headcount gaps fast
- Employee availability collection through shareable links, no login required
- Built-in handling for no-shows, replacements, and additional workers, each with reasons tracked
- A disciplinary warnings system with email notification and acknowledgement tracking
- A full KPI dashboard — attendance, punctuality, hours worked, approval outcomes, retention, and staffing fill rates — over any date range
- A public job application flow with document upload, reviewed and converted into employee records by admins
- Excel-exportable reports and role-based access control across the platform
Section 03
The outcome
SPManpower now runs its entire workforce operation — from job application to shift completion — on one platform. Scheduling, attendance, and staffing gaps are handled in real time, with the reporting to prove it. UmbrStack continues to maintain and extend the platform as the business grows.
